So you’re interested in CrossFit, here’s how you can get started…
Free Trial Class (optional)
Sign up for a FREE introductory class by emailing us or call us at 514.585.5938! We offer first-timers a FREE no-strings-attached introductory class, scheduled at your convenience. This class is designed for clients who have had no contact with CrossFit as well as those more familiar with CrossFit. The primary objective of the class is to educate you on CrossFit philosophy and to expand on the material found on the What Is CrossFit? page. There is no fitness requirement to attend this class. We will give you a taste of what CrossFit can do for you and you will see the gym and meet the trainers!
Group Fundamentals (9 classes)
Before you begin the Fundamentals series, we will meet you to discuss your objectives and your background so that we can tailor our program to fit your needs. We will further discuss the CrossFit method and answer any questions you have regarding the program.
Most clients will be directed to the Fundamentals classes as an entry point to the CrossFit de l’ouest program. Fundamentals are a series of 9 classes spread over 3 weeks designed to teach you how to safely perform the movements you will need to participate in our semi-private classes. The Fundamentals classes assume no prior knowledge of CrossFit and no fitness background. During this time, we will progressively ramp up intensity so that you can meet the demands of our semi-private classes. At the end of your Fundamentals classes you will be evaluated on your competence in performing movements safely.
Private/Semi-Private Coaching: CrossFit Fundamentals (typically 4-8 classes)
Do you want to start your CrossFit journey without waiting for the next Fundamentals to begin? Perhaps you want to join but can’t attend because of scheduling constraints? If you are uncomfortable joining the small group classes or fundamentals classes and would prefer the 1-on-1 attention of a trainer, we can accommodate your needs. In choosing private or semi-private (2-on-1 or 3-on-1) sessions, you will get to work closely with our professional and experienced coaches. In choosing private sessions you set the schedule, and get the undivided attention of the coach. In addition, personal training allows us to better address issues such as:
- Past/present injuries
- Limited flexibility/range-of-motion
- Sport-specific performance demands
- Specific medical instructions
- Desire for extra accountability
Testing out (1 session)
If you feel confident and comfortable performing basic gymnastics movements (i.e. pull-ups, dips, handstands) power lifts and Olympic lifts (ie. clean and jerk, snatch, deadlift, squat), you can request to test out of the Fundamentals and gain immediate access to our small group classes. Call or email us to schedule a time to come in and demonstrate your competence with one of our coaches. We have extremely high standards, so if you are unsure as to whether you are a candidate for testing out, we strongly encourage you to take advantage of our Fundamentals.
